The Bidwell family is planning to build a business park just south of the University of Phoenix azcentral reports. Early estimates are guessing that this can help create an additional 23, 000 jobs both directly and indirectly and help generate an estimated 2.6 billion dollars in extra revenue. The project is being called cbd101 (and will be both a residential, office, and retail district located along Loop 101 along Bethany Home in Glendale. For the city itself these plans can bring an estimated $16.8 million in sales tax revenue, with an additional $10.1 million each year after completion.
This will be great for all of us living in the far West Valley who have to commute hours each day to get to work. Currently Glendale ranks very lowly for office jobs to population ratio and this should help to turn that around and also cut down the commuting time for many workers.

Phoenix is Hosting the 2009 All Star Game
It has just been announced that Phoenix will be hosting the 2009 NBA All-Star game. This is looking to be an exciting upcoming year for sports in Arizona, with the Super Bowl being held here in January 2008, the Phoenix Suns are just getting their season underway, and the skies the limit for the Arizona Diamondbacks as well.

Aqua Dots Recalled After Traces of Date Rape Drug Found
Attention Parents!!
Once again, another Chinese toy has been pulled from the shelves worldwide. This time the product is Aqua Dots a bead set that you can spray with water to get them sticky and then create designs with your children. Cases have been popping up worldwide where some children have swallowed the beads and gone into comas because of the chemicals on the beads which when metabolized becomes similar to the date rape drug. A two year old Australian boy and a 10 year old girl have both been hospitalized after swallowing large amounts of the beads.
Aqua Dots were on Wal-Mart's list of top 12 Christmas toys this holiday season, so for all of you parents out there who might have had them on your list of toys to get your kids this year, TAKE IT OFF! And I would suggest to limit the amount of toys you are purchasing that say made in China on them this year. With this recent outbreak of recalls because of the quality of toy being made, it not only can put your children into life threatening danger, but also can put anyone who is handling the defective toy at risk as well. Arizona Unemployment Rates Hit New Low in September 2007
Something that is always good to hear for any of us here in Arizona who are looking for employment, is that the state is currently having record lows in our unemployment levels at 3.3%. The mortgage industry across the nation is in a slump, and here in Arizona we have lost 2,200 construction jobs just in September. The positive note is that as a whole right now in Arizona we gained a total of 28,500 jobs, 19,000 of them were in the seasonal job market so be on the lookout for all of those seasonal jobs opening up with Thanksgiving and Christmas right around the corner. Also we experienced a surge of available jobs in education, hospitality, and health services so if you have any experience in those areas, or you might be looking to make a change in your career field be aware of that fact when you are out looking.
Be aware that this holiday season the automotive and the clothing industry are in a tremendous slump so it might be much harder to get a job in those markets. With debt rising along with the price of oil, many market observers are unsure of when those trends will be turning around. Even with the issues in the mortgage industry, the entire financial industry is not being affected as a whole, which is always good news to all of you who are currently looking for jobs in those markets.
